Quick answer: Depending on your software or browser needs, our proxies fully support both HTTP and SOCKS5 connection protocols.
HTTP / HTTPS
- The most widely compatible protocol.
- Works with all browsers, browser extensions (FoxyProxy, SwitchyOmega), anti-detect browsers, and most automation tools.
- Supports both regular HTTP and encrypted HTTPS traffic.
- Choose HTTP if you are unsure which protocol to use.
SOCKS5
- A lower-level protocol that handles all types of network traffic — not just web requests.
- Supports UDP connections (useful for gaming, VoIP, and streaming).
- Ideal for applications that do not natively support HTTP proxies.
- Commonly used with advanced scraping setups and custom automation tools.
Which Port to Use?
HTTP and SOCKS5 use different port numbers. Check your ProxyPorts dashboard for the correct port for each protocol. Using the HTTP port with a SOCKS5 configuration (or vice versa) will result in connection failures.
Both protocols are included with every proxy at no extra cost.
