Browser Extension Setup
The easiest way to use ProxyPorts in a standard browser is through a proxy management extension.
Recommended Extensions
- FoxyProxy — Best for Firefox. Allows you to create multiple proxy profiles and switch between them instantly.
- SwitchyOmega — Best for Chrome and Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, etc.). Supports auto-switching rules based on URL patterns.
Configuration Steps (SwitchyOmega for Chrome)
- Install SwitchyOmega from the Chrome Web Store.
- Click the extension icon → Options.
- Create a new profile → select Proxy Profile.
- Set Protocol to HTTP or SOCKS5.
- Enter your ProxyPorts Server (host) and Port.
- Under the lock icon, enter your Username and Password.
- Click Apply changes and select the profile from the extension icon.
Chrome Security Policy Warning
Chrome frequently updates its security policies, which can sometimes disable or restrict proxy extensions without warning. If your extension suddenly stops working after a Chrome update:
- Check if the extension needs to be re-enabled in chrome://extensions.
- Look for new permission prompts that require your approval.
- Consider using Firefox with FoxyProxy as a more stable alternative for proxy management.
Mobile Device Setup
You can use ProxyPorts on both Android and iOS devices.
Recommended Approach: Native Wi-Fi Proxy Settings
The most reliable method is to configure the proxy directly in your device\'s Wi-Fi settings:
Android
- Go to Settings → Wi-Fi.
- Long-press your connected network → Modify network.
- Expand Advanced options.
- Set Proxy to Manual.
- Enter your ProxyPorts host, port, username, and password.
- Save.
iOS (iPhone / iPad)
- Go to Settings → Wi-Fi.
- Tap the (i) icon next to your connected network.
- Scroll down to HTTP Proxy → select Manual.
- Enter your ProxyPorts host, port, username, and password.
- Go back to save.
Avoid Third-Party Mobile Proxy Apps
Do not use third-party mobile proxy applications such as:
- Super Proxy
- Shadowrocket
- ProxyDroid
These apps frequently cause "Port Connection Refused" or "Authentication Failed" errors because they handle proxy connections in non-standard ways. Our support team cannot troubleshoot issues caused by these apps.
Always use your device\'s native Wi-Fi proxy settings for the most reliable connection.
