Protocols
ProxyPorts supports two industry-standard proxy protocols:
HTTP / HTTPS
The most widely compatible protocol. Works with virtually every browser, extension, and application. Use this if you are unsure which protocol to choose.
- Supports both HTTP and HTTPS traffic.
- Compatible with all anti-detect browsers, automation tools, and mobile devices.
SOCKS5
A lower-level protocol that routes all types of traffic — not just web requests. SOCKS5 is ideal for:
- Applications that do not natively support HTTP proxies.
- Use cases requiring UDP support (gaming clients, VoIP, streaming).
- Advanced automation setups where you need raw socket-level proxying.
Both protocols are available on all ProxyPorts plans at no extra cost.
Authentication Methods
ProxyPorts offers two ways to authenticate your proxy connection:
1. Username & Password Authentication
The simplest method. When you purchase a proxy, you receive a username and password displayed on your dashboard. Enter these credentials into your browser, application, or tool.
Tip: Always use the copy icon on the dashboard to copy credentials. Manual typing often introduces invisible characters or confuses similar-looking characters (the letter "O" vs. the number "0", lowercase "l" vs. the number "1").
2. IP Whitelisting
With IP Whitelisting, you register your device\'s public IP address on the dashboard. Any connection from that IP is automatically authenticated — no username or password required.
Important rules for IP Whitelisting:
- Maximum 3 IPs — You can whitelist up to 3 IP addresses at a time.
- 30-minute cooldown — After changing your whitelisted IP, you must wait 30 minutes before you can change it again. This cooldown is enforced to prevent abuse.
- Attempting to change your whitelisted IP before the cooldown expires will result in a "Too many requests" error.
- Dynamic IPs — If your ISP assigns you a dynamic IP that changes frequently, Username & Password authentication is the better choice.
Which Method Should I Use?
| Scenario | Recommended Method |
|---|---|
| Static home or office IP | IP Whitelisting |
| Dynamic IP / mobile hotspot | Username & Password |
| Anti-detect browser profiles | Username & Password |
| Shared server with fixed IP | IP Whitelisting |
